We are located in the heart of the sweeping plains of West Texas. Texas is a big state with 22 million consumers.  For manufacturers and logistics companies targeting the Texas market:  Think Lubbock.

Beyond Texas, keep in mind that we are literally “at the center of it all, just a little bit west.”  Meaning you not only have the all of Texas within a day’s drive, but also Denver, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Wichita, Oklahoma City, and every place in between.  In addition, the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport (LIA) provides Lubbock companies either direct flight or one-stop service to all major U.S. and international cities.

By Road

Highway
Whether one is traveling inside the city or venturing beyond, the Lubbock area’s transportation infrastructure is quick and accessible. Major locations in the city can be accessed easily with Loop 289, which connects the main thoroughfares in all directions. Lubbock is located between two major east-west interstates, I-20 and I-40, and is connected to them via I-27.

Ports-To-Plains Corridor
The Ports-To-Plains Corridor is a planned four-lane highway that will allow companies to access less congested ports of entry into Mexico.  It will be constructed from the Mexico border through West Texas and into Denver.  A coalition of over 70 organizations representing cities, counties, economic development corporations, chambers of commerce, and the private sector has assembled to promote and support implementation of the Corridor.

Construction is underway on many projects, particularly on the four lanes of US 87 between Clayton and Raton in New Mexico (completion scheduled for 2008) and US 87 between the Texas–New Mexico state line and Dumas (completion scheduled for 2011). Once complete, the Port-To-Plains Corridor will provide a complete four-lane route from San Angelo to Denver. Over all, half of the corridor already exists, is under design, or currently in construction. The projected completion date for all four lane projects and relief routes is 2030.

Truck Freight
There are 26 truck freight carriers located in Lubbock . These include both inter- and intra-state services. Lubbock has developed into a regional warehousing and distribution center due to its excellent location and interstate highway connections.

Bus Service
Within the city, Citibus offers three types of service: fixed route service, demand response service, and the Texas Tech University campus service.  For long distance travel, TNM&O Coaches, Inc., is headquartered in Lubbock.  TNM&O operates a fleet of 76 buses that operate in Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

By Air

  • Passenger ServiceLubbock Preston Smith International Airport (LIA) has more than 60 commercial arrivals and departures each day that serve 1.2 million business and leisure travelers annually.  Through LIA, it is easy to access major markets in the U.S. and abroad.

FedEx and Airborne operate regional distribution centers at the airport’s WestPort.  The U.S. Custom Service has an office on the property, and the airport has also been designated as a U.S. Port of Entry.
  • Aviation Facilities – Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport is located 7 miles north of Lubbock ’s central business district on 3,000 acres of property adjacent to I-27. The airport operates a 220,000-square foot passenger terminal building and has three runways. Air traffic control services include a 24-hour FAA control tower and a full range of instrument approaches.
