Lubbock’s economy is highly diversified across the manufacturing, wholesale trade, and services sectors.  Education and healthcare is our largest industry sector, employing 18,500 workers in 2005.  Between 2000 and 2005, Lubbock’s fastest growing industry was the Information sector (27% growth), followed by Leisure and Hospitality (10%) and Education and Healthcare (8%).

Lubbock also recognizes from which our wonderful community has been built, and although Medical and Healthcare remains one of our largest industries, the Agriculture and Distribution Industries have and will continue to play an important role in the growth and prosperity of the region.
