Texas Tech University
Enrollment:  28,001 students
Campus:  Public university on 1,839 acres in the city of Lubbock.

Rankings:  Top 125 higher education institutions in the nation by U.S. News and World Report
Degrees:  Texas Tech is Texas’ only multipurpose university, offering 152 undergraduate degrees, 140 graduate degrees, houses more than 60 research centers and institutes in fields ranging from automotive safety to biomedical and genetic research. 

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
Enrollment:  2,391 students
Campus:  1.1 million square feet of laboratory, classroom, office, and hospital space in Lubbock.  Awarded $24.8 million in funding for research in 2005.
Year Established:  1969
Degrees:  5 schools (Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy, and Biomedical Sciences) offering more than 40 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.

Lubbock Christian University
Enrollment:  2,079
Campus:  Private, non-profit four-year university on 120 acres in the city of Lubbock.
Year Established:  1957
Degrees: 35 undergraduate degrees offered in 9 departments and 9 graduate degrees.   A cross enrollment agreement with Texas Tech University allows students to be enrolled at both schools concurrently.

South Plains College
Enrollment:  9,258 full and part time students plus an additional 5,600 in continuing education and workforce development programs
Campus:  2-year technical and community college headquartered in Levelland and with a campus in Lubbock.  80% of South Plains College graduates transfer to Texas Tech University.
Year Established:  1957
Degrees:  The  Lubbock Campus is a technical branch of South Plains College of Levelland and offers 33 technical Certificate and Associate Degree programs linked to the area's economic development and manpower needs. It also offers Continuing Education program built around a variety of vocational courses.

Wayland Baptist University
Enrollment:  4,700
Campus:  Wayland’s Lubbock campus is 45 miles away from the main campus in Plainview, Texas
Year Established:  1908
Rankings:  Nearly 100% of the faculty holds PhDs or terminal degrees in their fields.  In 1998, U.S. News and World Report ranked Wayland’s cultural diversity as 8th among regional liberal arts universities in the West.
Degrees:  Diverse educational programs encompassing 24 majors.  Liberal arts undergraduate majors and graduate programs in business and education are available.
