Big XII team, Texas Tech, keeps our city buzzing with major sports excitement.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders continue their long tradition of excellence. In 2004, Red Raiders football won the Holiday Bowl. The Lady Raiders basketball team is a national leader in game attendance and has consistently won Big 12 Championships, even winning the NCAA Championship in 1993. Tech men’s basketball team, led by coach Bobby Knight, continues the quest for another conference title and NCAA tournament spot. The Red Raider baseball team has won two Big XII Championships and eight straight winning seasons.
Lubbock Christian University’s athletic program features exceptional basketball, baseball, and cross-country programs. LCU’s cross-country team took top honors as NAIA champions for an unprecedented eight consecutive years (1990-1997), while the indoor track team also boasts an NAIA championship.
The Lubbock Cotton Kings are in their 5th season of pro-hockey. The 2000-2001 “Franchise of the Year” plays its games at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum in a 32 home game schedule spanning from October to April.
Lubbock is proud to be home of the Renegades, a professional indoor football team. The up-close action, the clacking of helmets, the cheers of fans, the excitement of music, makes it a fun night out for the entire family.
