Lubbock offers a variety of recreation and sporting events. Collegiate athletics are alive, with
Texas Tech University Red Raiders, NCAA DI member of the Big 12 Conference,
Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals, part of the NAIA Sooner Athletic Conference, and
South Plains College Texans, part of the NJCAA Region 5 Conference.
The Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department offers year-round athletic activities for all of your recreational needs offering baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer, softball, volleyball, and youth leagues.
Lubbock has more neighborhood parks per capita than any other city in Texas. Covering more than 3,000 acres, many of the 72 facilities include playa lakes, walking trails, picnic tables and playground equipment. Other outdoor recreational facilities including golf courses, Joyland Amusement Park, swimming pools, tennis courts, Texas Water Rampage, fine arts facilities, and the Berl Huffman Athletic Complex.
