Workforce Surveys & Reports

This report presents the results of a survey conducted by the Department of Political Science and the Earl Survey Research Laboratory (ESRL) in collaboration with the Center for Public Service (CPS) at Texas Tech University in the spring of 2006. The study was commissioned by Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (Lubbock EDA) and WorkSource of the South Plains (WSSP) to find information on the type of community young as well as career professionals would prefer that would suit their preference for job and residential location the most, and, given a choice, to what extent they would prefer to stay in Lubbock. The study was based on a survey of 1,348 Texas Tech students and alumni from two major colleges - College of Business and College of Engineering - both with large populations of undergraduate and graduate students.

Full Report          Highlights         Workforce Results          Latent Workforce

Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, Inc. (LEDA) commissioned researchers at Texas Tech University to estimate the level of underemployment and describe salient characteristics of that population. In addition, LEDA requested information about the population of retirees and others who have voluntarily withdrawn from the regional workforce. This report presents the results of the 2005 Regional Underemployment Survey (RUS).

The Earl Survey Research Laboratory and the Center for Public Service at the Texas Tech University Department of Political Science conducted the survey, which contains responses from 832 persons living in a region including the following counties: Crosby, Dawson, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, and Terry. The report includes results about the underemployed workforce, latent workforce, and employed workforce.

Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, Inc. and WorkSource of the South Plains have partnered to provide you with up-to-date Labor Market information covering a 90-mile radius of Lubbock, which includes 29 counties. The survey was conducted by Texas Tech University’s The Lewis and Maxine Earl Research Laboratory, Department of Political Science. This type of information is valuable to businesses, workforce professionals, educators, and job seekers.
